Read The Label. Go On.
Not the front of the packet — that's marketing. Flip it over. Find the ingredients list. Read every single one.
Pick something from your kitchen. Something you eat every day or close to it. Cereal. Bread. Yoghurt. Pasta sauce. Muesli bars. Whatever it is.
Now read the label.
Not the front of the packet — that's marketing. Flip it over. Find the ingredients list. Read every single one.
How many are there? Can you picture what each one looks like in its natural state? Could you buy them separately at a supermarket? Could you make this at home if you wanted to?
You don't need a chemistry degree to do this. Just ask the simple question — does this look like food, or does it look like a list of processes?
There's no right answer here. Some long ingredient lists are fine. Some short ones aren't. The point isn't to find something wrong — it's just to look. Most of us never do.
One packet. Five minutes. That's today's challenge.
